Anchor O&P is partnering with Dignity Health employee Hiep Trinh to deliver much needed supplies to children in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in early 2014.

Lending A Helping Hand

ankle-foot-orthoses-to-vietnamEveryone here at Anchor Orthotics and Prosthetics of Sacramento is proud to be a part of a movement to help children overseas who are unable to get the help they need.

When we heard about the opportunity to be able to help make a difference in children’s lives abroad, we were on board immediately. We are so excited to be starting this journey that will continue on in the future.

The Journey To Vietnam

Physical Therapy Assistant Hiep Trinh is partnering with Anchor Orthotics and Prosthetics of Sacramento to deliver ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) to a children’s hospital in Saigon, Vietnam, in early 2014. Trinh is an employee of Dignity Health, and he has been traveling to visit family in Vietnam since 1999. This is his second year aiding the children’s hospital and everyone here at Anchor Orthotics and Prosthetics is excited to be a part of it this year, and hopefully for years to come.

Going Beyond

In addition to visiting Saigon, Trinh will be traveling throughout the Vietnam countryside and into the Mekong Delta, Cambodia, and Laos. He plans on working with physicians and specialists in those areas to customize the donated AFOs on site for children with various conditions that make mobility a challenge. In all, his trip will last from January 4 through February 1, 2014.

Helping Others Locally

Trinh works as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Dignity Health’s Bruceville Terrace facility in Sacramento. Bruceville Terrace is a skilled nursing facility that offers patients both short-term and long-term medical care options. He frequently collaborates with materials providers such as Anchor Orthotics and Prosthetics in service to his patients.

American Board Certified Orthotist Terry McDonald, owner of Anchor Orthotics and Prosthetics in Sacramento, hopes this experience will be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership. He hopes to create a supply line to the area, so that children will continue to receive the technology they need to stay mobile and comfortable.
